EPA Accredited Trainers
Any renovation, repair, or painting (RRP) project in a pre-1978 home or building can easily create dangerous lead dust. EPA requires that RRP projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities and preschools built before 1978 be performed by lead-safe certified contractors. Generally, EPA’s Lead RRP rule does not apply to homeowners doing RRP projects in their own homes. However, it does apply if you rent all or part of your home, operate a child care center in your home or if you buy, renovate, and sell homes for profit (i.e., a house flipper).
GlyNite Construction Environmental Services is a fully accredited EPA and Kansas Training Provider that offers renovator training courses throughout the country. If you are a renovator, maintenance worker, or contractor working on property with a construction date that precedes 1978, by federal law, you are required to become EPA certified.
For a first time certification, class duration is approximately 8 hours. Upon course completion, your certification remains valid for up to five years. Renovators or contractors who have previously completed their EPA certification are required to take at minimum a 4-hour refresher course prior to the expiration of their current certification.
Need a Refresher Course? Have you already had your Initial certification and need to renew it before it expires? Sign up for the on-line course! The certification is good for 3 years. Online training is not excepted for Kansas certification.
